Album: A Little Farther Down the Road – Alan Pedersen

The second moving album written by award winning singer-songwriter Alan Pedersen after the death of his daughter Ashley in a car accident. I love this album.

While some of Alan Pedersen’s songs are too religious for me, most of them really touch a fibre. His lyrics are deeply emotional and reflect his journey of child loss throughout the years. Take this into consideration, as we are all different -and we are all at different stages in our grief journeys- and you may not relate to some of his songs where you are at this moment.

On August 15, 2001 Alan’s life was changed forever.  Ashley Marie Pedersen, his oldest child and only daughter, died as a result of car accident. Alan has turned his journey through the valley of grief and the pain of loss into a collection of powerful and moving songs recorded on to 3 highly acclaimed albums.

A Little Farther Down the Road was released in 2008, 7 years after his daughter’s passing. I love this album, all of it. It was the first of Alan Pedersen’s albums I bought, after I heard ‘Tonight I Hold this Candle’ in my first Candle Lighting ceremony in memory of our children in Houston, only a few months after losing my son.
